高速道路フォントとディスプレイフォントに共通する手法
高速道路フォントとは「公団ゴシック」と呼ばれるもので、旧道路公団が独自にデザインしたものだそうだ。そのコンセプトは「時速100kmの高速走行でも文字が読める」という原則に則ったもので、そのためにとくに画数の多い漢字については工夫が凝らされている @nifty：デイリーポータルZ：高速道路フォントめぐり 全く同じ手法がディスプレイ用の古い和文ビットマップフォントでも採用されてた。 そういった工夫が盛り込まれたフォントの筆頭として「汚い汚い」と不評だったMSゴシックが挙げられる。画像はオリジナルサイズと200%に拡大したもの。拡大するとけっこうかわいい。 ディスプレイの解像度が上がっていくに従って、以前のように9ptサイズでフォントを表示する機会は減りつつあるけども、8~9pt...
